In this context, Ukraine is considering introducing a new law to legalize the sale of pornography in the country. According to a report in the ‘Wall Street Journal’, this step will make the country’s adult entertainment market a part of the legal economy, so that the government can get about $ 25 million annually, which is about Rs 237 crore in Indian rupees, in the form of taxes.
This money will be used to purchase 30,000 drones:
Yaroslav Zheleznyak, chairman of the Finance Committee of the Ukrainian parliament and a major supporter of this bill, said that the money raised through these taxes will be used entirely on the battlefield. The funds will be used to purchase up to 30,000 advanced drones for the war, which will greatly strengthen the Ukrainian army in its fight against the Russian army. It is worth noting that in Ukraine, it is currently completely illegal to create adult content and provide it to others. Violating this law is punishable by up to 7 years in prison. Despite this, the adult content industry continues to grow unabated with the combined help of the corrupt police and administration in the country.
Paying taxes has also become a crime:
The current situation is such that the Ukrainian authorities have started collecting taxes from these illegal content creators. But those who provide accurate information about their transactions and income to the government are officially considered criminals; because it is still illegal in the country. Regarding this dilemma, MP Zheleznyak said that there are currently two main options for women and young people who are creating adult content. The first is that they should not give ticks and face police and legal criminal cases. The second is that they should cooperate with the government by giving ticks, but then face court cases for violating the pornography law.
Government letters and legal complications:
According to media reports, some creative content creators in Ukraine have been transparent and informed the government about their income and ticks. But in response, the Ukrainian government sent them warning letters. In those letters, they were accused of stealing ticks and illegally creating adult content. The government is now taking important steps to bring this new law to get rid of this complex situation and strengthen the country’s war-torn economy.
