The mere mention of actress Katrina Kaif brings to mind the glitz, glamour, and stardom of Bollywood. Beyond the film industry, Katrina has also made a significant mark in the business world. However, the life of her mother, Suzanne, is vastly different from that world. She voluntarily left London and chose a village near Madurai, Tamil Nadu, as her base of operations. There, she has established a school for children from impoverished and marginalized backgrounds, striving to build a bright future for them.
It is fair to say that the area where Suzanne resides lacks proper electricity facilities; power outages often last for up to 18 hours a day. Suzanne, who was previously based in London, moved to Tamil Nadu in 2008. There, she established a voluntary organization named ‘Relief Projects India’. Initially, she began providing free tuition in the evenings to children from poor and underprivileged families who attended government schools. Later, in 2015, she formally started the ‘Mountain View’ primary school for them. Currently, 300 students are studying at the school.
In addition to this, she provides skill-based training to local women and offers career guidance. Some time ago, Katrina spoke about her mother’s arduous journey in an interview. She mentioned that living in the area where her mother resides is far from easy; electricity is available there for only a limited time. Therefore, it is often not possible to speak with her mother via video call. However, she contributes a portion of her earnings towards this noble cause undertaken by her mother.
