FIFA World Cup 2026 Explained: 48 Teams, 12 Groups, and the Brand New 104-Match Format.

FIFA has announced the final list of players from 48 countries for the upcoming World Cup. A total of 1248 players are going to participate in the World Cup this time. 48 countries will play a total of 104 matches. For the first time, 3 countries Canada, USA, Mexico are going to host the World Cup together. Out of the final 1248 players, 357 players have already played the World Cup. The remaining 891 players will make their World Cup dreams come true by making it their first. This time, 22 players are in the World Cup, whose age is less than 20 years. Similarly, 7 players above 40 will also play the World Cup this time.

A total of 1248 players from 48 countries will participate in the World Cup this time. All these players are playing for 449 different clubs in 71 countries.


The Czech Republic team has the highest number of 10 players from Slavia Prague. Eight players from Spain are from FC Barcelona and eight from Egypt are from Al Ahly. Eight players from South Africa are from Sundowns, while seven players from Germany are from FC Bayern Munich. Eight players from world champions Argentina are from Atletico Madrid. Six players from Al Hilal are from Saudi Arabia.


Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Guillermo Ochoa are the first three players to play in their sixth World Cup.
Mexico’s Gilberto Mora will be the youngest player to play in the World Cup this time. He will be 17 years and 240 days old when Mexico play their first match on the 11th.


Scotland’s Craig Gordon will be the oldest player at the World Cup. He is 43 years and 162 days old.
Only France has the largest number of players born in the FIFA World Cup. Out of the 1,248 players from 48 countries representing the World Cup, 100 were born in France. 75 players are playing for countries other than France. In addition to these, there are 25 members of the French team.


A total of 289 players who are going to participate in the World Cup are not representing their country of birth.
Portugal’s Carlos Queiroz, who is currently the coach of Ghana, is taking charge of a team in his fifth World Cup. He previously coached Portugal at the 2010 World Cup. He then coached Iran at the 2014, 2018, and 2022 World Cups. Before him, only Bora Milutinovic coached at the 1986 to 2002 World Cups.
