S.S. Rajamouli is currently the talk of the town regarding his upcoming film, ‘Varanasi’. After leaving a global mark on Indian cinema with blockbusters like ‘Baahubali’ and ‘RRR’, it is now time for ‘Varanasi’. The film’s first teaser showcased Mahesh Babu as ‘Rudra’, holding a trident. Recent reports indicate that Mahesh Babu has nearly wrapped up shooting for this mega-project, and the film is now moving into the post-production phase. However, a major glitch occurred during the film’s title launch event—a detail revealed by Rajamouli’s son.
The title launch event for ‘Varanasi’ was organized on a grand scale. The event was attended by the press from various parts of the world, alongside Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Rajamouli’s son and producer, SS Karthikeya, revealed that he had tears in his eyes while fixing a technical glitch backstage.
Recently, Karthikeya shot a promotional video for his upcoming film, ‘Don’t Trouble the Trouble,’ during which he was asked about his work on the Varanasi event. He said, “I handle such audio launch functions and pre-release events. My first event was for Rajamouli Sir’s ‘Student No. 1.’ He is the only director who actually rehearses for pre-release events.” Kartikeya had undertaken this specifically for the teaser launch. When asked how he felt when the event went wrong, he said, “The atmosphere inside the tent was like a war room. Honestly, I felt like crying. I was emotional, and I was angry too—though I didn’t know at whom.”
He further added that no one was to blame; it was simply that they hadn’t tested it beforehand. As Baba (Rajamouli) mentioned, the drones had been flying all night. Technically, our team is very strong; it wasn’t a case of using the wrong format or anything like that. We just needed to test it first. But when it stopped for the third time, I screamed like Nani from ‘Jersey’. I am not exaggerating.
