Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thalapathy Vijay may soon give a big gift to school children. There is talk that Vijay’s TVK government will feed chicken biryani to school children every week. A proposal in this regard is being reviewed and may be implemented soon. According to a report, Tamil Nadu’s school nutrition scheme will be changed to implement this scheme. In the new changes, the government is seriously considering the proposal of feeding chicken biryani to school children for one day every week. According to reports, state School Education Minister Rajmohan had put the idea before Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay a few days ago.
Speaking on the proposal, School Education Minister Rajmohan discussed Tamil Nadu’s political history and the previous nutrition programmes for children. Rajmohan says that K Kamaraj started the mid-day meal scheme in schools. Kalaignar Karunanidhi added eggs to it, M.G.R. changed it to ‘Nutrition Meal Programme’. Jayalalithaa then made arrangements to distribute eggs for the entire week. In this way, we want to serve chicken biryani to children in school lunch for one day a week.’ Chief Minister Vijay is reviewing the proposal and a final decision is yet to be taken.
Along with the changes in mid-day meal in the state, the breakfast scheme menu of Perunthalai Kamaraj is also planned to be revamped. The education minister said that a budget of about Rs 15 has now been decided per student. Therefore, by eliminating foods like wheat and rava upma, students will be provided with more tasty and nutritious options. It is noteworthy that primary schools in Tamil Nadu already serve two meals a day, namely breakfast and lunch. Tamil Nadu is the first state in the country where mid-day meal has been available since 1950. Mid-day meal was started under the leadership of the then Chief Minister K. Kamaraj. After that, every government has consistently changed this to increase the attendance of children in school and eliminate malnutrition. Now if CM Vijay approves this proposal, it will be the most unique in comparison to any other state in India.
