631 km of East Coast Railway will be covered by ‘Kachch’. The cost of this will be Rs 270 crore. Indian Railways has approved this as a major step towards strengthening railway safety through indigenous technology. Under this project, six important railway sections of the zone are included in the project: Baghu-Apal Budha, Haridaspur-Paradip, Khurda Road-Blangir, Naupada-Gunupur, Lanjigarh Road-Junagarh and Babeli-Salu. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Baishnab for their commitment to strengthen railway safety and modernize India’s railway network.
It is noteworthy that Indian Railways is installing Kachch with LTE-based communication system in its entire railway network to increase safety and operational efficiency. The Automated Train Protection (ATP) system ‘Kabuch’, developed with India’s indigenous technology, is designed to enhance safety by preventing signal overshooting hazards (SPAD), overspeeding and head-on collisions. The installation of the system on these routes will provide a high level of safety in train safety and operation. In addition, the system will ensure safer and more reliable train operation even in adverse weather conditions like dense fog.
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi tweeted that the approval for deployment of the system on 631 km of the East Coast Railway is a major milestone for our railway infrastructure. As a major part of the East Coast Railway network, Odisha will benefit from enhanced passenger safety, reduced risk of accidents, improved train operation and greater reliability of railway services. This modern, indigenously developed technology will further strengthen connectivity. It will contribute to economic growth and the creation of a safer and more efficient railway system for the people of Odisha.
