OpenAI has launched ‘ChatGPT for Teens’ to provide a special experience for teenagers under the age of 18. Through this new feature, younger users can use the AI chatbot in a safer and more responsible way. Along with this, parents will also get the opportunity to exercise some control over their children’s use of ChatGPT. Its global rollout has begun and it will be available to all eligible accounts in the coming weeks.
‘Study Mode’ and security measures:
According to the information given by the company, OpenAI will determine the age of the account holder through its age-detection system. Users aged 13 to 17 can also access this special teen experience by entering their age. Instead of giving children direct answers, this mode will help them with homework or lessons through questions, hints and step-by-step guides. It can also test their understanding through quizzes and other means. Through these features, the study mode can be deactivated for new chats at specific times and the use of chatGPT can be restricted or blocked when necessary. This can be set by users or their guardians.
