Odisha’s renowned Koraput Coffee has been included in the BRICS media kit, further establishing a distinct identity for the state and its coffee on both national and international platforms. The kit also features items such as Bihar’s traditional Sattu and Makhana, Gujarat’s famous handicrafts, and other elements representing India’s diverse culinary and cultural landscape.
The 18th BRICS Summit is scheduled to be held on the 12th and 13th of this month at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. To showcase the country’s diverse traditions, local products, and handicrafts to the visiting journalists from India and across the globe, these items have been incorporated into the media kit. This initiative by the Ministry of External Affairs aims to showcase renowned products from various states to the international media. It has been conceptualized to highlight India’s diversity alongside its unique narrative. Through a partnership with the Government of Odisha, the conference will feature the branding of ‘Koraput Coffee,’ offering attendees an opportunity to experience its distinct taste and aroma. Indeed, this initiative is designed to vividly present India’s diversity, innovation, and growth story to an international audience.
BRICS in Miniature Art
An artist from Odisha has created miniature sculptures using chalk, depicting the heads of state of the five nations participating in the BRICS summit, alongside a sculpture of the word ‘BRICS’ itself. Vijay Kumar, an artist from Odisha and a Guinness World Record holder, has demonstrated remarkable skill in the art of micro-sculpture. It took the 23-year-old artist—who is also an electrical engineer—a full month to create this piece. He crafted it using specialized precision tools. Each figurine stands one centimeter tall. The artwork features the likenesses of leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, alongside the acronym ‘BRICS’, national flags, and the logo for the 2026 summit. It is reported that the South African Embassy has contacted Vijay Kumar to arrange for the artwork to be sent abroad. Having previously garnered attention for creations like the World Cup trophy, he continues to earn praise while amassing numerous national and international records and awards.
