Ramayana Music Rights: Biggest Record-Breaking Deal in Bollywood

Ranbir Kapoor and Yash starrer ‘Ramayan’ is in the news every day for some reason or the other. Recently, the film was in the news for its pre-release business deals. Now the film is in the news for its music rights deal. The film’s producer Namit Mahlotra is aiming to make the biggest music rights deal in Bollywood history. Big companies are now in line to buy its music rights.

According to reports, Ramayan’s promoter Namit Mahlotra wants to make a deal for the music rights of Ramayan for Rs 100 crore. He has received offers of Rs 60 and 70 crore. But his eyes are on Rs 100 crore. According to information, Namit is considering such a huge deal for global music rights in all languages. It is reported that the deal will be for only the first part of Ramayan.

Several companies are in talks with the makers of Ramayan for a music rights deal. The line includes T-Series, Universal, Sony Music, Saregama, etc. According to reports, T-Series has made an offer of Rs 60 crore. Sony Music has offered up to Rs 70 crore. If this deal does not happen for Rs 100 crore and the deal is confirmed for Rs 70 or 60 crore, then this deal will still be the biggest music rights deal in Bollywood history. Earlier, T-Series had done the music rights deal for Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ for Rs 54 crore.

Ramayan, which is made in two parts, is being directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The first part will be released on Diwali this year and the second part on Diwali next year. In the film, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen as Lord Shri Ram, Sai Pallavi as Mother Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman Ji, Ravi Dubey as Laxman Ji, Arun Govil as King Dasharatha and Yash as Ravana.
