Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela’s team has claimed that legal action is being initiated against an AI company for using her name, photos, and videos without permission. The team has also stated that the estimated compensation involved in this matter is around ₹7,000 crore. According to a statement shared by Urvashi’s team with IANS, a Los Angeles-based AI company is accused of using her name, photos, and videos without authorization. The team alleges that the company derived commercial gain from this usage.
The team further emphasized that obtaining proper permission is mandatory before using Urvashi’s name, photos, or images resembling her for any commercial purpose. Her team has stated that legal action is being taken regarding this unauthorized use. Urvashi’s team also shared a note on Instagram, mentioning that legal proceedings and a claim for damages are being initiated against the Los Angeles-based company. The estimated amount of the claim is ₹7,000 crore.
Meanwhile, actor Salman Khan has also expressed concern over the misuse of AI. During an episode of ‘Bigg Boss 20’, he shared his views on AI-generated videos and AI voice dubbing. According to Salman, AI has advanced to such an extent that its misuse could become a cause for concern. She cited examples of how someone’s speech can be edited using AI to convey a different meaning and how AI-generated videos are created using the likenesses of various individuals. Following this claim by Urvashi Rautela’s team, the issue of using a celebrity’s name, face, voice, and other identity markers via AI has once again become a topic of discussion. However, the claim regarding the ₹7,000 crore penalty is based on the statement made by Urvashi’s team, and a legal decision on the matter is still pending.
